Cisco warns of critical flaws allowing Nexus switch takeover

Cisco has issued advisories for five critical NX-OS flaws that could let an attacker run arbitrary code with root privileges on Nexus switches. That makes data centre switching infrastructure a direct takeover target and raises the priority for patching and access review.

What to do

This week, inventory all Nexus switches, verify NX-OS versions, and apply Cisco's fixes to any exposed or in-scope systems first.

FBI: Ongoing FortiBleed attacks lock out FortiGate VPN admins

The FBI says FortiBleed attacks are still ongoing against exposed Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and SSL VPN gateways, with some victims locked out of legitimate administration. That makes internet-facing firewall estates an active incident-response concern, not just a patching task.

What to do

This week, check FortiGate logs for lockouts and credential abuse, confirm admin access paths, and isolate any internet-facing devices showing signs of compromise.
