Over the years, working with young ethical hackers, I’ve seen the same thing again and again, and again …

The skills are there. What’s often missing is the right support: someone a few years ahead who can answer the questions they’re afraid to ask, or a mentor who can help them see where they could go next.

I’m not a headhunter, but I still get messages like these all the time: “Where should I go next?” “How do I land my first role?” “Who should I talk to?” I try to help wherever I can, but one person’s inbox isn’t a system.

And it’s not only a junior problem. Experienced professionals have a lot to share, and employers want people they can trust.

That’s why we built Cyberr: one trusted network for the entire cybersecurity community, connecting emerging talent with experienced professionals, mentors, employers and training partners. But building a connected community takes more than a platform. It takes partnerships with people and organisations that share the same vision and are already working to strengthen the cybersecurity ecosystem.

So, what is the best way to celebrate #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth?

Come out with excitement news: I’m especially proud to welcome our new partnership with ICTC-CTIC on board.

Together, we want to connect ICTC’s cybersecurity graduates, companies and members with Cyberr’s global community. We also want to make it easier for experts and mentors to share their knowledge across borders (because, cybersecurity has no borders) and build stronger connections between the Canadian and European cybersecurity ecosystems.

A big thank you to Anne M. Patterson and the entire ICTC team.

Shane H.: This is such a perfectly timed post. I was just talking to a convention organizer in my area and he told me I needed to find a mentor because going at it alone is ill-advised. I'm 42 and switching careers from healthcare, so I had absolutely no support or mentorship, and now I've graduated, I feel overwhelmed by the amount of learning I still have left to do. Being a part of Cyberr is a blessing.

George B.: Honestly, coming from healthcare might end up being one of your biggest advantages. You’ve spent years seeing problems from an angle most people in cybersecurity haven’t, and you’ll probably spot things people with a purely tech background wouldn’t even think about. You’re not starting from zero, you’re building on everything you already know.

Schomer: Phenomenal news, Seb! Cybersecurity truly has no borders, and connecting ICTC’s graduates with Cyberr’s global network is a massive step forward for community-driven defense. Trust is everything—both in the networks of people we build, and the runtime architectures we deploy to protect them. Congratulations to the whole team on this milestone!
