I'm a British security consultant. Since 2014 I've run Rootwire Ltd, and all of my work goes through it: fractional CISO retainers, interim cover, and defined projects for owner-run and regulated SMEs. My current engagement is as security lead for a UK fibre operator, where I own Telecoms Security Act compliance, wrote the policy suite including AI governance, and ran the Cyber Essentials Plus gap analysis.

Receipts: a licensing restructure that saves that client over £25,000 a year. An ATM vulnerability reachable from a public area, demonstrated to a high-street bank's executives and fixed at speed. Bournemouth University's Hall of Fame for responsibly disclosing an unauthenticated remote code execution flaw. CISSP, 2026.

What I won't do: sell you a policy template and call it a programme. I also don't run a SOC and won't pretend to; for monitoring I bring in a provider and hold them to account, which is most of the job anyway.

Best fit: 10 to 200 staff, a customer or regulator asking for proof, no full-time security hire. Remote, UK-wide. US Eastern hours available.
