Hello everyone, I need expert advice more specifically from cybersecurity employers. Is having a certification in CompTIA Security+ worth it? Is it something that employers care about and does it make me stand out from those who don’t have that certification when it comes to getting into the cybersecurity industry?

George B.: Yeah, it’s worth having. Some employers specifically filter for Security+, so it can help get your foot in the door. But since you’re going for GRC, I’d also get comfortable with ISO 27001 and NIST. Even putting together a mock risk assessment for a small company gives you something concrete to talk about in interviews. Certs are useful, but everyone seems to be collecting them these days.

Darius R.: George Botnaru thank you for your advice.

Mike M.: George Botnaru Definitely this! And whatever hands-on labs/experience you can get yourself into, just to have extra brownie points at the hiring table, lol.
