Google’s Mandiant just confirmed that threat actors are actively bypassing Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) to exploit Oracle PeopleSoft systems globally. This is the fatal flaw of application-layer security: it relies on filtering variable traffic patterns. If an attacker slightly modifies their exploit payload, the WAF lets it slide straight through to achieve unauthenticated remote code execution.Security teams cannot keep fighting an arms race at the software layer. When you decouple security from application logic and move the defensive line down to a deterministic Layer-Zero gate, a WAF bypass becomes irrelevant. By enforcing strict execution-time boundary validation natively beneath the stack, malicious payloads are dropped at the gate before they can spawn a shell or connect laterally—zero production downtime, zero reliance on signature updates.
