From Enigma to SIEM — the fundamentals never changed.

Today I visited Bletchley Park, home of the Codebreakers. I was blown away.

Standing in front of an actual Enigma machine, looking at the intercept radio equipment, the cipher grids, the secret handbooks — it hit me.

The core problem these people were solving in 1940 is the same problem I work on today.

Detect the threat. Decode the signal. Respond before it’s too late.

The difference? They did it by hand, in wooden huts, under enormous pressure, with lives on the line. Today I do it with Elasticsearch, Kibana, and real-time Telegram alerts through PhilSIEM — my home SOC lab.

The tools have changed beyond recognition. The mission hasn’t.

If you’re breaking into cybersecurity, spend a day at Bletchley. It will remind you why this work matters — and where it all started.

Samantha S.: I LOVE Bletchley, it's such an inspiring place to visit (and luckily not too far from me). Agreed - it's a must do for people of all levels of the industry that can make the trip.
