Building Psychological Safety in Cybersecurity #careeradvice #cybersecurity #leadership

If you manage a cybersecurity team this is worth 30 minutes of your time. I came across the Decloaked podcast recently and it covers some great topics in Cyber.
Tony McGaharan (ex-Google, now at People Playbook) talks about building psychological safety in cybersecurity. He covers why the best security teams are the ones where people feel safe to speak up, make mistakes and challenge each other.
Some things that stuck with me:
Why the first 30 seconds of any conversation set the tone for everything after it. How radical candour actually works in high pressure security environments. Why celebrating wins matters in an industry that can feel relentless.
Cybersecurity is stressful enough. If your team is afraid to flag mistakes or ask questions, that provides risk too.
