Why cybersecurity

Why cybersecurity's future isn't AI vs. humans, it's both
AI's expanding role in cybersecurity has spawned a flawed assumption among security professionals: that the industry's future is a binary choice between fully automated AI agents or human defenders, with little middle ground.
Many experts are rejecting that binary premise, pointing instead to a symbiotic model. As AI becomes more embedded in cyber defense, the relationship between people and machines is evolving into a collaborative one. AI can process vast amounts of data, identify hidden patterns and accelerate threat response. But the technology's potential is amplified by the people who guide it. Human expertise, in turn, can be extended by AI's ability to analyze information at a scale and speed no team could hope to match.
This emerging symbiosis was a central theme during a panel at the 17th annual Billington Cybersecurity Summit in Washington, D.C. this month, where public sector cybersecurity leaders from the U.S. and allied nations discussed how human judgment and AI-fueled analysis are elevating the capabilities of both.
AI won't replace cybersecurity analysts; it will augment them. Experts at the Billington Cybersecurity Summit explain why human judgment remains essential.

Schomer: Spot on, Laurent. The industry cannot afford a binary trap. Relying solely on fully autonomous AI agents exposes enterprises to deep architectural risks like goal drift and pre-authentication exploits. The real symbiosis requires an unbreakable safety perimeter. We’ve built a deterministic Layer Zero gate that natively neutralizes whole vulnerability classes and zero-click exploits before they tou
Ravimurthy M.: This is an important distinction. The future of cybersecurity should not be framed as AI versus humans, but as the design of an effective Human–AI Cyber Defense Operating Model. AI can analyse enormous volumes of telemetry, correlate events across multiple data sources, identify behavioural anomalies, enrich indicators, prioritise vulnerabilities and accelerate investigation. However, cybersecurit

Schomer: @Ravimurthy Krishna Murthy Outstanding structural breakdown. Your 11-point blueprint for an AI-augmented SOC operating model is exactly where the industry needs to go, especially regarding the segregation of recommendation and execution logic. You correctly identified that the ultimate pillar of this architecture must be Deterministic Security Controls. Without them, human-in-the-loop validation b
