Delta probes Wi-Fi deauth attack on flight carrying DEF CON attendees
Nikki W. — Cybersecurity is not just technical, it is human | Protecting people, businesses & resilience
As an industry we spend so much time convincing people security folks are on their side. That we are not the bad people, but the ones stopping them.
Then a plane from Vegas with some DEFCON attendees on allegedly jams the WiFi and phishes their own seatmates for "the lols," and a decade of that work gets undone in one headline.
You want to prove you are skilled? There are villages built for exactly that. With consent. With rules. Where you do not scare the public at 30,000 feet.
Seemingly forgetting planes have cameras, boarding passes, and seat numbers.
Skills: zero.
Consequences: plenty.

Innocent A.: This is NOT good and definitely NOT ethical. I hope someone is held accountable for it.
KRvW: Fully agreed. This is NOT a good look. I hope the perpetrators are brought to justice. Absolutely unacceptable. There are so many opportunities to hone and practice those skills ethically.
