Critical Security Advisory: Unauthenticated Remote OS Command Injection in AhsayCBS (CVSS 10.0)

A maximum-severity vulnerability tracking as EUVD-2026-92078 (CVE-2026-105134 / GHSA-mxj3-2x8q-2rh9) is actively being targeted by threat actors.

This flaw grants unauthenticated attackers the ability to execute arbitrary operating system commands remotely on host servers. Due to the high risk of immediate compromise, CISA added this vulnerability to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog on October 14, 2026.

🔍 Technical Overview & Impact

The flaw is located in the backup replication framework of AhsayCBS, a centralized backup server application widely utilized by managed service providers (MSPs) and enterprises.

• The Vector: The issue resides within the Replication Receiver component, specifically affecting the endpoint /rps/api/json/UpdateReceivers.do.

• The Mechanism: An attacker can manipulate the input argument named random inside an HTTP request. Because the application fails to properly sanitize this parameter before passing it to the underlying system shell, it triggers an unauthenticated OS command injection.

• The Blast Radius: A remote, unauthenticated attacker can exploit this over the network (AV:N / AC:L / PR:N / UI:N) to achieve complete system takeover with the privileges of the backup application. They can alter system data, drop ransomware, or wipe production backups entirely.

📊 Threat Intelligence Context

• CVSS Score: 10.0 out of 10.0 (CVSS v4.0 baseline).

• Exploitation Status: The exploit code has been publicly released, lowering the technical barrier to entry for threat actors.

• EPSS Forecast: FIRST's Exploit Prediction Scoring System currently reflects a 4.78% probability of exponential propagation over the next 30 days. This number is climbing rapidly following its addition to the CISA KEV list.

🛡️ Affected Systems & Patch Remediation

The flaw impacts all installations of AhsayCBS up to version 10.3.2.

• Affected Versions: 10.3.0, 10.3.1, and 10.3.2.

• Remediation: Upgrading the deployment to version 10.3.4 or higher completely mitigates the command injection vector.

💡 The Blue Team Commentary: Why This Explodes Traditional Defenses

This is a worst-case scenario for organizations relying on legacy security postures:

1. The Infrastructure Target: Threat actors love targeting backup management servers (Ahsay, Veeam, Commvault). If an attacker gets an unauthenticated root shell on your backup server, your entire recovery strategy is dead. They will delete your immutable configurations and encrypt production networks simultaneously.

2. The Logic Failure: This isn't a complex cryptographic bypass. It's a foundational input sanitization error inside an API parameter (random).

3. The ETBV (Layer Zero) Defense Difference:

Traditional perimeter setups look at network traffic anomalies. But if the exploitation payload is wrapped inside a syntactically valid JSON API request to an exposed replication endpoint, standard web filters may completely miss it.True safety requires a deterministic execution gate (Layer Zero). When your underlying infrastructure relies on deterministic boundary logic, the backup server's shell execution engine restricts system command spawns natively. Even if an unauthenticated input injects a command, the boundary prevents the application from executing an arbitrary binary (like spinning up a reverse shell or downloading a malicious agent) because it violates the strict execution policy.

Immediate Action: Audit all internet-facing MSP endpoints. If you host an AhsayCBS platform, isolate the server and push the 10.3.4 upgrade immediately.
