The WordPress core security team just pushed an emergency remediation for CVE-2026-87902 (CVSS 9.2), a critical path-traversal vulnerability being actively exploited in the wild within hours of disclosure. Attackers are abusing template resolution mechanics to execute remote code on host servers completely unauthenticated, dragging down massive legacy themes and prominent enterprise frameworks like Neve and Sydney with it.This is a classic example of input validation decay. Enterprises layer complex web applications over legacy foundations, assuming their software wrappers will catch directory traversal attempts. But when a core path-resolution function fails, the entire application stack crumbles from the inside out.The ETB framework renders these core path-traversal vulnerabilities completely inert. By operating an immutable Layer-Zero gate below the web application layer, we don’t rely on a CMS or its themes to validate string paths safely. Our engine screens the execution-time boundary natively. If an unauthenticated inbound transaction attempts to force an unauthorized system state change or access restricted local boundaries, the packet is instantly dropped. The application layer never even sees the malicious payload to begin with.
