Organizations routinely invest in enterprise architecture, security architecture, application architecture, and data architecture because they recognize that important capabilities require intentional design. Yet governance evidence is often left to chance. Policies, meeting minutes, risk assessments, audit reports, and technical artifacts are created independently, with little thought given to how they connect into a coherent record of leadership oversight.
This article introduces the idea that cybersecurity governance has a missing architectural layer. A defensible enterprise doesn’t simply collect governance documents—it designs how governance activities produce connected, traceable evidence from the moment decisions are made. That shift from documenting governance to architecting governance evidence is the foundation of Evidentiary Architecture™.
