From Cybersecurity Academia to Industry — Seeking My Next Opportunity in the UK

After several years working across cybersecurity research, higher education, and applied security projects, I am now taking an important step in my career: transitioning from academia into the cybersecurity industry.

I hold a PhD in Computer Science from Teesside University, with a technical background spanning secure systems architecture, network security, Software-Defined Networking (SDN), cryptography, intrusion detection, cloud security, and resilient distributed systems. My doctoral work focused on designing secure architectures for connected and high-mobility environments using SDN, fog computing, and cryptographic mechanisms.

My goal is to translate this research and technical depth into practical, commercial cybersecurity work, particularly within:

Security Architecture | Cyber Security Consulting | Cloud/Network Security | Security Engineering | Cyber Advisory

I am especially interested in opportunities where I can contribute my existing technical expertise while developing further experience in enterprise security architecture, client-facing consulting, risk-driven design, and secure cloud environments.

To support this transition, I am currently developing my professional architecture credentials through AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, CISSP preparation, and a planned SABSA Foundation pathway.

I also hold a UK Global Talent Visa with full right to work in the UK, require no sponsorship, and am available for immediate relocation.

I am realistic about this transition: I am not looking to rely on an academic title alone or jump prematurely into a senior enterprise architecture position. I am looking for the right bridge between my existing cybersecurity expertise and commercial industry experience, where I can contribute, learn, and progress toward Security Architecture.

If you work in cybersecurity recruitment, consulting, security architecture, cloud security, or know a team that may value this type of background, I would be very grateful to connect.

I would welcome conversations about relevant UK opportunities.
