James W. — Decision Intelligence Executive

The question isn't whether security or availability should win. The question is whether anyone had enough context to make the right business decision. Intelligence should provide that context by answering questions such as: Is this behavior consistent with known threat activity? Is the affected system critical to business operations? What is the likelihood that relaxing this control creates a material increase in risk? What is the cost of downtime compared to the potential consequences of reducing protection?

When those questions are answered with evidence instead of assumptions, the conversation changes. IT is no longer arguing for uptime, security is no longer arguing for controls, and leadership is no longer forced to choose between competing opinions. They're making an informed business decision based on operational impact, adversary behavior, and measurable risk.
