š¤ AI in Cybersecurity: Our Greatest Ally or an Attackerās Best Tool? š
Let's talk about something that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore in today's cybersecurity landscape: Artificial Intelligence.
AI is changing the way we live, work and protect ourselves online. In cybersecurity, it can be incredibly beneficial. It helps security teams detect unusual activity, analyse threats faster, automate repetitive tasks and respond to incidents more efficiently.
But here is the other side of the conversation. Cybercriminals are also using AI to their advantage.
From creating convincing phishing emails and deepfake voices to impersonating trusted individuals and automating attacks, AI is making some cyber threats harder to recognise than ever before.
Think about this for a moment: What if you received a voice note that sounded exactly like your manager asking you to make an urgent payment? Or an email that was perfectly written, addressed to you personally and appeared to come from someone you trust? Would you recognise the warning signs?
This is why cybersecurity awareness matters more than ever. We cannot rely solely on spotting spelling mistakes or suspicious-looking messages. We need to question unusual requests, verify identities through trusted channels, protect our data and continue developing our digital awareness.
š” My biggest takeaway? AI itself is not simply good or bad. Its impact depends on how it is developed, used, secured and governed. The challenge is learning to benefit from its capabilities without overlooking the risks.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! š
š¬ Let's discuss:
Do you believe AI will make cybersecurity professionals more effective, or give cybercriminals a greater advantage?
Have you encountered an AI-generated scam, deepfake or suspicious message that was difficult to distinguish from the real thing?
What do you think individuals and organisations should be doing now to prepare for AI-driven cyber threats?
Let's share experiences, exchange ideas and learn from one another. Cybersecurity awareness grows when we have these conversations. š

Keola: First of all, good questions. A simple answer to your first question is both. Threat actors seem to be rapidly moving forward and leverage AI more and more. Cybersecurity is still trying to catch up. One of the problems...AI seems to be used as a replacement for cybersecurity instead a tool to compliment and enhance cybersecurity. As to the second question is yes. The frequency and complexity of s
Juliana A.: Keola Insightful submissions. I totally agree with you; we shouldn't begin to see AI as a replacement
