Hello Everyone,
I've been hard at work trying to get into the world of Cybersecurity.
Please feel free to check out the projects i've made so far on my google drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sNcuo7RkWCJ2pyUfY1YD-hMRyfVPzg7a?usp=sharing
I recently completed a comprehensive (personal) technical project focused on migrating a vulnerable, disorganized workgroup into a highly secure, centralized, and actively monitored domain environment for a fictional company, "CyberEx".
This project allowed me to bridge the gap between offensive and defensive security by designing a multi-layered virtualized corporate network.
Key Technical Milestones:
- Network Architecture: Architected a complete virtual topology using VMWare, segmenting the network into distinct zones with dedicated internal virtual switches for secure communication.
- Perimeter Defense: Deployed an OPNsense Next-Gen Firewall as the primary gateway, configuring static routing, HTTPS remote administration, and preparing for IDS/IPS implementation.
- Enterprise Administration: Overhauled the infrastructure by deploying a Windows Server Domain Controller to implement Active Directory, centralized DNS, and file storage.
- Red Teaming (Offensive): Integrated a Kali Linux attack machine to simulate insider threats and conducted penetration tests against unhardened clients to identify critical vulnerabilities.
- Blue Teaming (Defensive): Built an Elasticsearch Stack (SIEM) for centralized log monitoring and created visual dashboards to detect indicators of compromise (IoCs) and ransomware threats.
- Traffic Control: Configured a Transparent Proxy (Squid) and web filtering to enforce corporate internet policies without requiring manual client-side configuration.
Tools & Technologies Used:
🛠 Virtualization: VMWare
🛡 Security: OPNsense, pfSense, Snort/Suricata, Squid
💻 OS: Windows Server (AD/DNS), Ubuntu Server, Windows 10, Kali Linux
📊 Monitoring: Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana (ELK Stack)
This hands-on experience reinforced my ability to design, build, and secure enterprise-level IT infrastructure while maintaining a proactive security posture.

Laurent H.: This is seriously impressive work for someone breaking into the field! Building a full AD domain migration, layering in OPNsense at the perimeter, AND standing up an ELK SIEM with custom dashboards, that's not beginner stuff !🫡
Isaac S.: Laurent Halimi Thank you Laurent! What the documentation doesn't tell you is the many hours of frustration getting things to run well haha.
