I’ve been exploring different platforms and came across Cyberr, but I don’t just join things. I test them.
Before jumping in, I spent a week making sure it wasn’t just another data-harvesting space targeting new “greenleaf” talent. What I found was a mix of veterans and a new wave bringing bold, sometimes risky ideas to the table.
Now, speaking as a greenleaf myself, after getting ghosted by opportunity after opportunity, I stopped waiting. No more “we’ll get back to you.” No more sitting on the sidelines.
I tried the usual path with labs, tutorials, and TryHackMe. It all sounded great, but it dragged. It felt repetitive. Blah, blah, blah.
Then it clicked. Cybersecurity isn’t locked behind a course. It’s everywhere. Smart TVs. Smart bulbs. Consoles. PCs. Real-world attack surfaces sitting right in front of us.
So I built my own path.
I started sketching everything out with pseudocode and flowcharts, breaking systems down until I understood them. Then I leveled up using Bitburner for scripting and automation, Uplink for flowcharts and structure, HackHub for social engineering concepts, Hacknet for ethical hacking fundamentals, and Nite Team 4, where I pushed past my limits.
That’s where things changed.
Once I locked in the computer languages I needed, I started scripting, building, and testing nonstop. No hand-holding, just real learning.
You can see part of that journey here: https://github.com/NiteOpsTech/alexu0805
And yeah, I took AI and made it work for me.
Now I’m working toward my Associate’s in Computer Science, focused on Cybersecurity and Forensics.
If you’re a greenleaf like me, stop waiting. The field isn’t gatekept. It’s wide open if you’re willing to go get it.
Cyberr is something I’d recommend, but don’t just join. Prove yourself.
