"Let the data speak for the people." Leverage this phrase because it captures something we often get wrong in cybersecurity. We spend a lot of time asking people what they think the risk is, which project deserves funding, which vulnerability matters most, or whether a control is working, when the evidence sitting around us may already be telling a very different story.
Decision intelligence changes that conversation by treating data as evidence rather than decoration. Threat activity, operational telemetry, business dependencies, financial impact, vulnerability exposure, and adversary behavior should help us challenge assumptions rather than simply reinforce the opinions already in the room.
That doesn't mean removing people from the decision, because data without context can be just as misleading as intuition without evidence. It means giving people a clearer picture of reality so experience and judgment can be applied where they actually matter.
Maybe the goal isn't to become more data-driven at all. Maybe it's to become more evidence-driven, where the loudest voice doesn't automatically carry the most weight and the best idea doesn't need to come from the highest title. Let the data speak for the people, then let good people decide what it means.
