Head of Information Security - Fully Remote - EU
We are hiring a battle-tested Head of Security to take full ownership of security in a fast-scaling, high-risk crypto environment.
This is not a policy or advisory role. This is a command position.
You will lead from the front, owning real-time threat response, making high-stakes decisions under pressure, and building a modern, resilient security function capable of defending against sophisticated, state-level adversaries.
Reporting directly to a highly respected CTO, you will act as the ultimate authority on security, responsible for protecting the business, its customers, and its infrastructure as we scale rapidly under increasing regulatory and threat pressure.
The Mandate
Take full ownership of company-wide security strategy and execution
Lead from the front during live incidents and crisis scenarios
Build and scale a high-performing security function (starting lean, growing fast)
Defend against advanced threat actors, including state-sponsored attacks
Drive MiCA, DORA, ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS readiness and compliance
Embed security into engineering, product, and operations
What You’ll Own
Crisis Leadership & Threat Command
Act as incident commander during security events
Lead detection, containment, and recovery in real time
Build and refine world-class incident response capabilities
Security Architecture & Engineering
Own security across AWS cloud, infrastructure, endpoints, and applications
Design and implement scalable, modern security architecture
Integrate security deeply into DevSecOps and SDLC pipelines
Advanced Threat Defence
Build defensive strategies against APT groups and sophisticated attackers
Leverage threat intelligence to stay ahead of emerging risks
Implement monitoring, detection, and response capabilities at scale
Regulatory & Risk Leadership
Lead implementation of ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, MiCA, DORA
Own risk management, audit readiness, and regulatory engagement
Balance security, compliance, and business velocity
Team & Culture
Build and lead a high-calibre security team
Drive a security-first culture across the organisation
Influence engineering, product, and leadership teams
What We’re Looking For
7-10+ years in cybersecurity, including senior security leadership roles
Proven experience as a hands-on Head of Security in crypto, fintech, or regulated environments
Track record of leading through real-world cyber incidents and crises
Deep expertise in AWS cloud security (essential)
Strong knowledge of modern threat landscape (APTs, zero-days, supply chain attacks)
Experience implementing ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, MiCA, DORA
Ability to operate as a player-coach, strategic and deeply technical
Strong executive presence, confident engaging with board and regulators
