Penetration Tester Team Lead

We are looking for an experienced freelance Penetration Tester Team Lead to support the build and leadership of a penetration testing capability across Europe. This role combines hands-on technical delivery with team coordination and mentoring. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality security assessments while helping scale a flexible, high-performing freelance team.
What You’ll Do
Support the recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of freelance penetration testers across Europe.
Lead and perform advanced web application and API penetration tests.
Collaborate with technical teams to improve automation and testing workflows.
Review and deliver high-quality security reports with clear, actionable remediation guidance.
Communicate findings and business risks to clients and support them in remediation efforts.
Contribute to the improvement of methodologies, tools, and testing approaches.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of hands-on experience in Web Application and API Penetration Testing.
Previous experience leading projects or coordinating security teams (freelance or in-house).
Strong knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 and common attack techniques.
Solid understanding of TCP, HTTP, and modern web technologies.
Proficiency with tools such as Burp Suite, Caido, or equivalent.
Fluent English with strong reporting and communication skills.
Nice to Have
Scripting or coding skills (Python, Go, Bash).
Experience with automation or AI-assisted security testing.
Client-facing experience in explaining risks and remediation.
Certifications such as CREST, OSWA/OSWE, or GPEN.
